Hey everyone! My name is Alex and I have the extreme privilege of being an intern at Glassnote. After lots of hard work this year, we decided to take a break and have our annual “Company Day”. After last years venture to Coney Island, Daniel chose a change of scenery that was a welcome surprise. This year’s trip was to the North Fork of Long Island for wine tasting and excellent food. We left early in the morning by way of our trusted navigator Steve for a day of fun and relaxation. Our first stop of many for food was at the Love Lane Kitchen where we all got an incredible fresh breakfast. The restaurant was a really cozy, down-home eatery that felt like my own kitchen. Afterwards, we picked up fresh fruit and home-cooked donuts at a stand, the kind you can only find in the country, and then headed off to our first winery! We got to sit by the grapevines and taste our own selected wines. Despite some formidable weather forecasts, it turned out to be a beautiful day. Drinking wine in the sun next to some great scenery was extremely relaxing and everyone left with a smile on their faces. Our next destination was a small town right on the water that boasted little shops and restaurants full of character. We walked around for a while before discovering a huge merry-go-round. Naturally, we all had to go on it. I have to admit I was a little hesitant about being spun around in circles after a big breakfast and a few glasses of wine, but it turned out to be very fun. Afterwards, we ate lunch at a restaurant on the pier, offering very fresh seafood. It was really a classic New England lunch with clam chowder and lobster rolls. No summer day is complete without ice cream, however, so we stopped of at the local shop for some cones. It was mid-afternoon as we headed to the second winery and we just made it before closing time. We all enjoyed some more fine wines and took our last glasses out to the back deck where the sun was setting over the field of grapevines. It was an incredible sight that ended an incredible day. We finally headed home but there was an encore; the pie stand. Fresh peach pie was the one last indulgence of the day and what an indulgence it was. We got back to New York completely satisfied from a wonderful day. Oh, it is good to be at Glassnote!

Greetings everyone! This past Friday I ventured down to Greensboro, NC, to spend some time with our favorite southern rockers, Jonas Sees In Color. The band wrapped up the recording of their album with producer Aaron Johnson (The Fray) at the end of April and I missed them so damn much that I had to jump on a plane and see their first homecoming show since.
Things were off to a rocky start for me personally, with flight delays, connections, and all the other headaches that go along with flying these days. Thankfully my flight was switched and I made it into Greensboro with an hour to spare. The lovely Amanda picked me up from the airport and took me over to the venue where I was happily bombarded with the kinds hugs and kisses that are only magnified by distance and time. It was so good to see everyone, but after that it was strictly business as the band loaded their gear onto the stage, sound checked, then headed to the artist “dressing room” to get their heads right for the show. Manager Danny Fonorow delivered a motivational pre-show speech, the kind that lets you know every show is a stadium show for this band. The room was filled to the walls with fans of all ages, who made evident they missed the band badly while they were recording in Denver, showering them with homemade gifts and baked goods.
As the band took the stage to the roars of the crowd the band started things off with an energy packed version of “I Own These Streets” which sounded as amazing live as it did on the new recordings. The crowd sung along to Ryan’s every word, as the energy of the rest of the band propelled them through the hour long set. Owen’s energy and on-stage guitar tricks brought cheers from the audience as the rhythm section collectively known as Mikey & John held down the low end. Lead guitarists John Chester and John Owens swapped licks as Meg Beth’s key’s added The new arrangements for standout favorites “Stand Tall”, “Luck and Love”, “Loose Threads”, and “Avalanche” all went over extremely well, with the newer songs like “The Sky Is Falling” and “Water On The Rise” absolutely blowing fans away. In the middle of the set the band let me know exactly how they felt about my presence at the show, as Ryan pointed me out, asking the entire crowd to scream at me “Welcome To North Carolina!” to which they gladly complied.
Once the show was over I had the amazing fortune of meeting the band’s many family members in attendance at the show. Parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, all the way down told me how hard they had worked for the opportunity, and how proud they were that they had begun to achieve it. To see the support system that has been behind these kids and to see how much the dream means to so many people, to a whole community, was something so special that has stayed with me and pushes me to work as hard as I can for this group.
I watched as they spent an hour talking to fans, autographing t-shirts, and taking pictures. When it was all said and done I thought the band would celebrate a great homecoming show as fans invited them to party on the roof of the venue, which doubles as an after-hours club. The band would not hear of it though, as they spent the next 2 hours unloading their friend’s lighting rig that they spent all day loading into the venue. I was astonished at the band’s work ethic, instantly certain that their drive and motivation to succeed has no bounds, pushing me to match their efforts in every endeavor from there on.
The rest of the weekend was extremely special, spending down time with the band and hearing what was going on in their personal lives since we had last spent days like this together. Ryan, Danny, and I stayed up Friday night into Saturday morning watching an Anvil Bootleg I brought down, until 6 am when we left to get fresh Biscuitville. For those who don’t know (like me), Biscuitville is a chain of fastfood breakfast restaurants in the south and it is amaaazzzziiinggggg. The next day for lunch we missed out on a Greek Festival that turned out to be a drive-thru Greek Festival, so instead we grabbed some North Carolina BBQ, while we debated the merits of chopped versus sliced pork. Just for the record, Danny’s lone opinion in favor of sliced was correct. I had my first taste of Cheerwine, which despite its name, was really just a kind of Cherry soda that we do not have up north.
I got to learn a million new things about everyone, like how Ryan’s nickname is “Golden Pipes” only used sarcastically half the time. I learned that Meghan Beth is famous for not finishing anything she ever orders, but that Danny will always help her out. I learned that Owens has an obsessive affinity for cleaning his ears, much like me, as we shared many a q-tip. I learned that Johnny has a scooter that he uses to get back and forth from Greensboro to his hometown about 20 minutes away, while John rides a bicycle to travel a similar distance. Mikey drove me back to the airport as we enjoyed his mixed cd of motown and soul gems, helping me to realize it wasn’t rock all the time with the band, and that they are a very deep, eclectic bunch. Lastly, I met Meatball, manager Danny Fonorow’s loving English bulldog who loves the spotlight just as much as the band. It was a trip I’ll never forget, one which has helped me realize the way some dreams are born never to be delivered, swearing to myself that it would never be the case with this band. The future is coming and it is as bright as can be for this band, because they refuse to lose.

Hello world! My name is Jessica and I’m one of the lovely interns here at Glassnote. I thought it would be cool to give you an inside scoop of what it’s like, for me, being an intern! Let me begin with my most recent project that I’ve been losing sleep over (seriously, I’ve had nightmares about this).
I have recently become an expert at blimps or blimping as I like to call it. The last month or so I have been researching blimps to start a marketing campaign based off of Phoenix’s “Lisztomania” music video. If you have seen this video, you will probably remember this HUGE blimp with their album title on it. I contacted a bunch of companies and learned crazy things about plastics, helium and the mechanics of blimps and how they work. We had it custom made into the bomb shape that appears on the Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix album cover and walked around New York City with it.
If I thought the pre-production of the blimp was hard, you can only imagine how difficult it was to walk around the city with it! I took Audrey and Conner along for the adventure (because it was totally an adventure, not knowing what would happen) and at 11:15am, we were on our way. It wasn’t that nice of weather out, with drizzles and crazy wind all day but we managed! It is really hard to take something that big and delicated and fly it through the streets of Manhattan, seriously. There are so many trees in NYC, I never would have realized if I were in any other situation.
The first stop was going to fill up the blimp with helium which again was another researching project as well. It is a 10ft. blimp and fit with space into a regular sized garbage bag! While putting the helium into it we discovered that we had to attach the wings and had some trouble figuring it out but eventually they were on it (we think the correct way, but hey, it looked great either way!) Then we walked around Union Square, talking to a bunch of people, handing out flyers and stickers. A few tourists took pictures of us, which makes me laugh because they’ll go home, and we’re going to be in their pictures from vacation giving them the thumbs up (well, me at least). We then stopped by RED and CMJ to show off Phil because let’s face it, he’s a ham and wants people to see him. (I named him Phil, he was definitely a character and deserved a name, Phil seemed to fit.) While on our way to Washington Square, we made a few pit stops that involed Phil deciding to do this ridiculous dance in the wind that consisted of beating me up (with his sharp fins… twice!) and cutting my ear. Sadly, that was not caught on tape but it was funny after the pain went away! We stopped by Tompkins Square and played with a few kids but by that point it was starting to rain and the park was empty so we handed out a few more flyers and talked up Phoenix and headed back to Union Square for a final run around with Phil.
We deflated him a little bit and tried to sneak him onto the subway to take him home to the Glassnote office but police officers weren’t having it and made us completely let all of the air out. We had to say bye to Phil but his memories live on through twitter! We were doing live updates all day! (twitter.com/glassnotemusic) We also took a bunch of pictures and videos that you can check out on our facebook homepage! There you have it! A day in the life of a Glassnote intern!

Yesterday Phoenix's new album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix was released on
iTunes. And to celebrate the Glassnote crew went out The Spring Lounge
in Soho for a Phoenix Listening Party. It was great, good company and
good music, you cannot go wrong. By the time we went to bed Phoenix
had already climbed to number 3 on the iTunes charts, we were all
stoked. Then when I woke up this morning the first thing I did was
check iTunes on my phone to see where Phoenix was at and they were at
#2!!!!! What a great way to start off the day. It got better as I came
into the office and "Girlfriend" was playing on the radio as one of
Josh Schwartz (you know the creator The OC and Gossip Girl) picks on
Sirius XMU. I could just listen to Phoenix all day everyday. And I
kind of do, so if you catch me dancing and singing while walking down
the street just assume that is Phoenix that I am listening too.

Happy (2nd) Birthday Glassnote !!!
What comes to mind first is our head of new media, Jenna LoMonaco’s cupcakes. The sight, smell and delicious taste of them signals a celebration…. we have had many of these. Firstly we celebrate each others birthdays, and when we are truly lucky, one of our Artists are in town and we surprise them. We celebrate the little victories that make up our foundation in building Glassnote. Once in a while we combine the cupcakes with some Rose’ wine from the South of France. Or for big victories, Champagne.
The cupcakes, whose flavor combinations are infinite (From Guinness with Baileys Frosting, to Dulce de Leche) appear (and are promptly devoured) when we learn of our songs on the radio for the first time. When Secondhand Serenade and Justin Nozuka opened the mtvU Woodie awards two years in a row, Secondhand Serenade performed (twice) on Conan O’Brien, pictured in Rolling Stone, #1 Myspace, Top 10 Single, VH1 top videos of 2008, sold out tours, gold records in 5 countries, Platinum in the US, when we heard they were opening for The Fray in Australia, and Live from Soho Apple store.
Cupcakes for the Team celebrating Justin Nozuka with great pride when VH1 made him a “You Oughta Know” Artist, when Justin played to crowds at SXSW, the Democratic National Convention in Denver, 2,400 fans singing every word with the band at Terminal 5 in NYC, People Magazine, #1 video on VH1.
Pink Champagne cupcakes when Jonas Sees In Color drove to NYC, yes all 6 band members, their Manager Danny Fonorow and Andy White in one Van. We celebrated their signing, but the miracle was that they bravely parked the van, fully loaded on Lexington Ave in the middle of a busy afternoon, and it was not ticketed, towed, or stolen. Yes little miracles (Double cupcakes). And Now Jonas Sees In Color is in the studio with Aaron Johnson, producer of both Platinum albums for The Fray.,
The cupcakes recently got more sophisticated when Phoenix arrived. The band landed from Paris and we celebrated with old school Italian food at Gino Restaurant. Cupcakes were flying when we received news that Phoenix were to perform on SNL! And then we heard “1901” on Sirius XMU, and websites like Pitchfork, Fader, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Rolling Stone, Spin, New York Magazine and more were excited about the new album. We stayed up and partied with Phoenix until 6am after the triumphant SNL show.
And now Jenna is baking for………………………..
Year 3.
